 Program Meeting--June 17, 2009

Program Title: Value of HR in Challenging Times

Speaker:  Dr. Kate Immordino

In challenging budget times, how do you make sure that HR is not only seen as valuable, but is proactively contributing to keeping your agency afloat? It starts with making sure that HR has a seat at the table for those discussions, which only happens if you have something to contribute: the ability to make recommendations to leadership on prioritizing functions, the ability to integrate assessment, workforce planning and strategic planning, and the ability to continuing to move forward with the types of programs and services that benefit your employees.

Dr. Immordino is the Director of Organizational Research and Assessment at the University Center for Organizational Development and Leadership, Rutgers University .  Prior to joining Rutgers in 2007, she was a career public administrator with over 25 years of state government experience including positions as the Assistant Commissioner for Administration in the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and as the Assistant Commissioner for Planning and Research in the New Jersey Department of Personnel.  She was recognized in 2002 and 2004 by Quality New Jersey for Best Practices in New Jersey state government.  She is past-president of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration and past vice-chair of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Subcommittee on Human Resources, and was a member of the Publications Advisory Board of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources.  She is currently an adjunct professor at Rider University .
